Kate’s Story

When people find out that I am the developer of VBS a goal achieving and motivation package they will often ask me, “what is the point of a vision board?” I try to explain that at its most basic a vision board is just a way to surround yourself with images and text of the things or ideals you want to aspire to or achieve. This usually does not enlighten the person I am talking to. KateStory1A vision board is a tool that can be applied to many situations. In my experience people use vision boards in many different ways. The goals and dreams that can be incorporated into a vision board can be very lofty, including world peace and harmony for mankind, or they can be very practical, helping some one to stay motivated for some course of action. When explaining how vision boards might be used I find it easier to provide concrete examples. One example I like to use is about a friend of mine, Kate. kates_story I would like to share with you Kate’s story. Kate set a goal in January of 2008 to lose 50Kg. When [...]

Focus on your current reality

splashofinspirationThis week I I’d like to share a valuable quote I read in The Secret. It was this quote from James Ray: “Most people look at their current state of affairs and they say ‘this is who I am’. That is not who you are. That is who you were. Let’s say for instance that you don’t have enough money in your bank account, or you don’t have the relationship that you want, or your health and fitness aren’t up to par. That is not who you are; that is the residual outcome of your past thoughts and actions. So we’re constantly living in this residual, if you will, of the thoughts and actions we have taken in the past. When you look at your current state of affairs and define yourself by that, then you doom yourself to have nothing more than the same in the future”. You see, you might primarily focus on your current reality as well, thinking: “How can I ever change this? I hardly have any money, live in a small apartment and have no idea how to get ahead in life. How can I expect to become really wealthy?” However, the important thing to realize is that our current circumstances have nothing to do with what we can become and in fact are becoming! It is crucial to know that, in order to change our circumstances and manifest our goals, we must constantly focus on our future instead of focusing on our current situation. So forget about wasting your energy and thoughts on worrying about any challenges you are dealing with right now. Instead, focus your energy and time on visualizing yourself in your future life. And we need to visualize with so much passion and belief, that we really feel as if we have already achieved our dreams. This is what will attract these dreams into your life. You might have heard the saying “If you know the WHY, the HOW will follow!” Have a powerful week! Linda Boertjens
